No Muslim denies the intercession of the Messenger

Do Wahhabis deny the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?

A: It is clear to anyone who has studied the biography of Imam Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and his followers that they are innocent of this claim. The Imam, may Allah have mercy on him, affirmed in his writings, especially in the Book of Monotheism and the Unveiling of Doubts, the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) for his nation on the Day of Judgment. Therefore, it is known that the Sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, and his followers do not deny his intercession (peace be upon him) or the intercession of other prophets, angels, believers, and children who died young. Rather, they affirm it as Allah and His Messenger have affirmed it, and as our righteous predecessors have practiced based on evidence from the Quran and Sunnah.

Thus, it becomes clear that what has been reported about the Sheikh and his followers denying the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is utterly false and a means of diverting people from the path of Allah and lying about those who call to Him. The Sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, and his followers only denied seeking intercession from the dead and the like. Intercession can only occur after Allah’s permission for the intercessor and His approval of the one being interceded for, as He said: “Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?” [Al-Baqarah: 255], and He said: “And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except after Allah has permitted it to whom He wills and approves” [An-Najm: 26], and regarding the angels: “And they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased, and they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive” [Al-Anbiya: 28]. Allah only approves of monotheism, while the polytheists have no share in intercession, as He said: “So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors” [Al-Muddathir: 48], and He said: “For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed” [Ghafir: 18].

We ask Allah for us and for you success in what pleases Him, and well-being and safety from all that angers Him. And Allah is the Grantor of success.
