There is no compulsion to accept Islam

Some colleagues say: Whoever does not convert to Islam is considered free and will not be forced to convert to Islam. This is evidenced by the Almighty’s saying: Do you force people until they become believers [Yunus: 99] And the Almighty said: There is no compulsion in religion [Al-Baqarah: 256]
These two noble verses and other verses that have similar meanings Scholars have explained that it applies to those from whom the jizya is taken, such as the Jews, Christians, and Magians. They do not hate it, but rather they choose between Islam and paying the jizya.
Other scholars said: It was in the beginning, then it was abrogated by the command of God Almighty to fight and jihad. Whoever refuses to enter Islam must wage jihad with the ability until he enters Islam or pays the jizya if he is one of its people. It is obligatory to oblige the infidels to Islam if they are not subject to the jizya. ; Because in their Islam their happiness and salvation in this world and the hereafter, obliging a person to the truth that contains guidance and happiness is better for him than falsehood, just as a person is obligated to the right that he owes to the children of Adam, even if it is imprisonment or beating, so obligating the disbelievers to unite God and enter the religion of Islam is better and more obligatory; Because in it is their happiness in the immediate and the future, unless they are from the People of the Book, such as Jews, Christians, or Magians. For these three groups, the Sharia stated that they have a choice: either to enter Islam, or to pay the tax freely while they are submissive.
Some scholars have suggested that others be joined to them in choosing between Islam and the jizya, and it is more likely that no one else will join them, but rather these three sects are the ones who have the choice. Because the Messenger, peace and blessings of God be upon him, fought the infidels on the peninsula and did not accept anything from them except Islam. God Almighty said: Then if they repent and establish prayer and pay zakat, then leave their way. Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful. [At-Tawbah: 5] He did not say: Or pay the jizya. The Jews, Christians, and Magians demand Islam. If they refuse, then the jizya. If they refuse, the people of Islam must fight them, if they are able to do so. The Almighty says: Fight those who do not believe in God or in the Last Day, and do not forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth from among those who were given the Scripture until they are given the A tribute at their fingertips while they were helpless [Al-Tawbah: 29]. Since it was proven from the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, that he took the tax from the Magians, it is not proven from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor from his companions, may God be pleased with them, that they took the tax from other than the three mentioned groups. The basis for this is the Almighty’s saying: And fight them until there is no strife and the religion is entirely for God [Al-Anfal: 39] And God Almighty says: When the sacred months have passed, kill the polytheists wherever you find them, and capture them, and besiege them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush, but if they repent and establish righteousness And give the zakat, then leave their way. Indeed, God is Forgiving, Merciful. [At-Tawbah: 5] This verse is called the Verse of the Sword, and it and others like it are the abrogation of the verses that contain no compulsion to Islam.
God bless
